The fabric is poplin, but what is poplin? Originally called "papeline" because it originated in the papacy of Avignon, it is a fabric whose tight weave is made from two cotton threads of varying density.
In this case, the weave is dense, made from very fine cotton and the threads are doubled before being woven together (double twisted). The fabric holds well while remaining quite thin, it is very soft and comfortable to wear.
